[Click here to return to parent post: Converting an Impress Presentation to a Video]
Videos can be stored on a computer in many different formats. There are also many computer programs, Internet services and devices that can be used to play videos. Unfortunately, different programs, services and devices use different formats and what works with one may or may not work with the others.
Because learners have different technological resources available, it would be useful to be able to convert an instructional module into a format usable by whatever technology they have on hand. Any Video Converter is a free software tool that can do just this.
Any Video Converter can be downloaded from the following link: http://any-video-converter.com
In the following tutorial, we will convert a video saved Windows Media Format (.wmv), which is playable in Windows Media Player on a computer, to MOBILE_MP4 format, which is used by many mobile phones.
(1) When you launch Any Video Converter on your computer, a screen similar to this will appear:
(2) Begin by left-clicking on "Add Video" at the upper left of the screen.

(3) Next, navigate to the folder on your computer where you have saved the video you wish to convert. Note that the video in this example is a Windows Media File.

(4) Left click on the video you wish to convert, then left click on "Open."

(5) The selected video will now appear in Any Video Converter.
(Note: More than one video at a time can be converted into the same format by selecting and opening multiple video files.)

(6) To select the output format, (a) left click on the down arrow near the top right of the menu to display the output format menu and (b) choose an output format from the menu.

(7) After the new output format appears in the box and you've verified that it's correct, left click on "Convert" to begin the conversion process.

(8) A bar will appear, showing the progress of the conversion.

(9) If you wish to convert the video into a different format (for a different learner), click on the box next to the file-to-be-converted name to put a check mark in it and repeat the process described above.

(10) Any Video Converter automatically saves the converted output file in your "Documents" or "My Documents" folder called "Any Video Converter." Within this folder, it also creates a sub-folder for each output format it has created.

(11) The converted video we just created was stored in Documents/Any Video Converter/MOBILE_MP4.
